We Are The Company For Publishers Who Want Their Book Rights SOLD!
IBMC works closely with subagents and publishing houses around the world to market ancillary rights.
Audio rights is the right to publish a work in audio format which may include audio books and podcasting.
In recent years the advance on royalty has gone down on the sale of book club rights. This is due to a decrease in membership. The sale of this right lends visibility to the title, author and publisher and, of course, a financial benefit as well. IBMC always attempts to negotiate non-exclusive book club rights and to strike a deal whereby the book club edition is a part of the original edition’s manufacturing thereby reducing the cost per unit.
Most of the time the movie, television and theatrical rights are not purchased outright by a production company. Instead an option agreement is given for the potential purchase of the right. The term of an option agreement is normally from one to two years and often has extension clauses. An option agreement gives the purchaser the time to develop the property and obtain financing for the production. Options can be as low as a couple hundred dollars and as high as $36,000+. Normally the option payment is applied against the purchase price. The purchase price is determined upon the amount of the money raised for the production. It should be noted that less than one percent of options are purchased.
Electronic Rights
Electronic rights normally are granted by the phrase in a contract that
states "all media now known or hereafter created." Electronic
formats are still evolving and there are unknown venues for sale of
electronic rights, therefore during negotiation with a third party,
IBMC strives to have very specific terms to the formats, usage and the
period of time to exercise the electronic rights.
Foreign Rights
Foreign Rights are sold to non-United States English language countries,
such as the United Kingdom.

Foreign translation rights are just that: The work is translated into
a foreign language. Our strongest markets are Spain, France, Korea,
